Cavitation
Ultra sonic Cavitation uses an ultrasound technology that breaks down the fat cells below the skin. It can reduce your cellulite and localised fat. After a consultation, I will know which areas to concentrate on and the particular way to perform the treatment to achieve the best results. Conductive gel is put on the abdominal and stomach area (for a tummy tuck) and using the handheld conductor, I will apply a small amount of pressure, nothing that will cause any discomfort, this will help the fat cells to break down into liquid. The body will then expel this through the lymphatic drainage system, so drinking plenty of water is key to help with this.
Ultrasonic Cavitation – Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is ultrasonic cavitation?
Ultrasonic cavitation is a non-invasive body-contouring treatment that uses low-frequency ultrasound waves to break down fat cells beneath the skin. The disrupted fat is naturally processed and eliminated by your lymphatic system, helping to slim and sculpt specific areas of the body.
- How does ultrasonic cavitation work?
The device emits ultrasound waves that create microbubbles within fat cells. These bubbles expand and burst, breaking the fat cell membrane. The released fat is then metabolized and flushed out through the lymphatic and urinary systems. Muscle, skin, and organs remain unharmed.
- Who is a good candidate for ultrasonic cavitation?
You may be a good candidate if you:
- Have stubborn fat areas that don’t respond to diet or exercise
- Are near your ideal weight
- Want a non-surgical, low-risk fat reduction option
- Prefer gradual, natural-looking results
- Don’t want downtime or anaesthesia
People not ideal for the treatment include those with active infections, pacemakers, metal implants, severe medical conditions, or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Is ultrasonic cavitation safe?
Yes. It is considered a safe cosmetic procedure when performed by a trained professional. Side effects are typically mild and temporary.
- Are there any side effects?
Possible short-term effects include:
- Mild redness or warmth
- Temporary swelling
- Light bruising
- Slight tenderness in the treated area
- Temporary skin dimpling or waviness as the body heals
These symptoms usually resolve within a few hours to a few days.
- Does the treatment hurt?
Most clients describe the sensation as warm, relaxing, and completely tolerable. Some may hear a faint buzzing sound during the treatment due to ultrasound waves interacting with the ear canal — this is normal and harmless.
- How many sessions will I need?
Most clients see best results after 6–12 sessions, spaced 1 week apart. Larger areas may require additional treatments.
- How long does each session take?
A typical session lasts around 60 minutes, depending on the treatment area.
- How soon will I see results?
Some people notice changes after 1–3 sessions, but the most visible results appear 2–6 weeks after completing a full treatment series as the body continues flushing out fat.
- How long do results last?
Results can be long-lasting when paired with a healthy lifestyle. Once fat cells are metabolized, they do not return — but new fat cells can form with poor diet or weight gain.
- How should I prepare for my appointment?
For best results:
- Drink at least 1–2 litres of water the day before and day of treatment
- Avoid alcohol for 24–48 hours
- Avoid heavy meals two hours before treatment
- Wear comfortable clothing
- Maintain regular physical activity
- Proper hydration is crucial — the lymphatic system needs water to remove fat efficiently.
- What should I do after my treatment?
Post-care is essential for maximizing results:
- Drink another 1–2 litres of water throughout the day
- Engage in 30 minutes of light exercise (e.g., walking) to stimulate lymphatic drainage
- Avoid alcohol or caffeine for 24–48 hours
- Maintain a balanced diet
- Can the fat come back after treatment?
The fat cells removed during cavitation do not come back. However, remaining fat cells can still expand if you gain weight — so maintaining your results depends on healthy habits.
